Hardships make you stronger
Samina, a 15 years old girl lives in a slum in KHALIQABAD. However, at the age of 6, her father died who was the only source of livelihood for her family. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother. Her elder sister got married and their family survives in a very heart wrecking environment. Her mother works as a housemaid in several houses and earns their living. She has studied till class 4 but after this, she couldn’t carry on with it.
Consequently, Samina constantly motivates her sister and brother to continue studies as she understands the value of education. Acknowledging the power of education, she said it is only through education that she understood the rights which she can avail, but not getting it. She fights for her own rights and others in her neighborhood now.
When vocational classes first came into existence, our team went to her home so that she can enroll herself in this program. Moreover, she was instantly interested to join the computer program and stitching lab. She learned a lot of things in those sessions through life skill education, and etc.
Samina came to know about child marriage and its consequences, child labor and how it is affecting the lives of the children in her society. She spent 1 year in the vocational classes and started convincing girls of her age to join The Noor Project and get skill and education in one package.
Samina is doing an excellent job for her society and her neighbors and her mother is very proud of her daughter’s initiative. She is the face of the Noor project in fact, a testimony of our hard work and enthusiasm.
